As the DetroitSportsRag.com reported last month, Jim Thompson — who wrote a longtime wrestling column for the Detroit News under the nom de plume ML Curly — was released from prison after serving 16 years behind bars.
Thompson (who other than the pseudonym ML Curly also went by the aliases James Mitchell Werty and James Mitchell Wineman) was convicted in 2000 of second degree criminal sexual conduct (Person Under the Age of 13) and plead guilty to fourth degree criminal sexual conduct (Person Between the Ages of 13 and 16.)
At the time of Thompson’s release from jail, we informed you that once the 20-year Detroit News staff member fulfilled his obligation of registering his current address with the department of corrections as a convicted sex offender we would share that information with you.
Well, here is that information according to the State of Michigan Registry:
If the registry is accurate, the 71-year old Thompson is currently residing at the Park Geriatric Village in Highland Park.
We cannot be sure if this will end up as “ML Curly’s” permanent residence but we will continue to check the registry and provide any further updates when possible.
