I am not sure how many people are interested in the fall-out from the ugly homophobic rants former Michigan State defensive lineman and WDFN nighttime personality Ike “Mega Man” Griffin spewed at ex-Major League pitcher and WDFN morning personality Lary Sorensen from a couple days ago, but here is the latest.

Both parties posted my article on their respective Facebook pages regarding the ugliness that occurred on that social media platform after Griffin made the statement that “no father would be proud of a gay son,” a comment that Griffin made in response to future NFL defensive end Michael Sam’s announcement that he was gay and Sam’s father’s reaction to that pronouncement.

On Sorensen’s Facebook page, many of his friends rushed to commend him on his classy response to Griffin’s bigoted position and the vitriolic abuse he subsequently took from his former co-worker for defending the LGBT community. He also received support from fathers like himself who have a gay child.

Some of those comments came from the broadcast world ….

He calls you a hater! How can someone from the most discriminated group in American history condemn someone for simply being who and what they are and had no choice in becoming. The ignorance is mind-boggling and repulsive. Being “all man” as he says, should really mean treating all people with respect and seeing past the differences. Pathetic. It shouldn’t have been as hard a 36 hours for you — neither you nor your son have anything to defend. America has made amazing strides in the acceptance of minorities in recent years. Unfortunately, even members of one minority can casually dismiss members of other minorities without even realizing the hypocrisy. Good for you. For Ike to call you a hater is the pot calling the kettle black. (no pun intended). Being anti-gay is hatred bolstered by willful ignorance. I like Ike, but his comments are repulsive.

You’re a champ, old friend. I’m proud for you and your family, how you’re confronting the demons and preaching the faith. I loved working with Ike in the 90’s and couldn’t be more disappointed. When confronted with a loving father who supports his children unconditionally he took off the mask and revealed a monster within. Keep standing up for your kids and against the bullies. Proud of you pal.

You were great Lary. That exchange was ridiculous and embarrassing for Ike. By the way, nice to reconnect with you. I hope you’re doing well!

On Griffin’s page the story was much different as the “Mega Man” dug himself a deeper hole with a bizarre mixture of justifications from “I am an entertainer and this was all part of my act” to “The Bible says homosexuality is a sin” to …. oh, who the fuck knows what this guy is trying to say. All I know is that these rants are riddled with spelling errors a second grader wouldn’t make.

Yep, the favorite defense from every homophobe on the planet … The Bible Made Me Do It. Well, Mr. Griffin , where in that fantasy-land text of yours does it state that mocking someone’s disease is acceptable? And yes, I believe alcoholism is a disease because I rely on scientists to formulate my opinions …. not on men from 2,000 years ago who thought the Earth was only 6,000 years old.

I’m not sure what Corinthians says about calling a former friend’s mother a drunkard or claiming that a gay child learned that behavior from a parent, but who knows? Considering that book’s opinion of slavery and cannibalism, I wouldn’t be shocked to learn that it was acceptable.

Anyway, here are Griffin’s ramblings in the aftermath of his Facebook rants that could earn him Focus on the Family’s “Man of the Year.”

What an incredible day.
When you walk with God I am so glad Jesus has already died for my sins because this physical form my mind sometimes still does what it wants to do. I’m still a sinner who keeps getting back up today I had an interesting post I posted something about Michael Sam the college linebacker who finally came out and said that he was gay now after I posted the article I had a couple of comments that I decided to verbally do what I do.
Now here is how God works all day long I have been hearing be kind..be like God..forgive. .
Well today I have taken something away from today is.
God forgives me for sins
There is no sin that will not be forgive.
It is a man’s glory to pass over a transgtessin.
Be tender hearted and forgive. .
When the spirit deals with you repent. And move on.
People will push buttons
The trick is to unplug from ignorance. .

How awesome if you have wrong thinking that could hurt someone else..or my words cut people like a razor..
God still loves me..
But I will say as long as I have this mind and flesh I’ll fall again..
Heck I’m a man..
But the Grace of God.
I can get back right again..
All I know is God book says being gay is sin..
People got mad because I posted an article about the hay linebacker coming out and his father said he did not like it..
My comment was “that’s real”
A dad that is not worried about losing endorsements so he said what he felt. He was not proud his son was gay.
“I replied I don’t know many or for that fact any father that would be proud.
Now eventually he may come to understand.
But at first reaction being okay.? Don’t think so.
So all day I got assaulted with emails..
No worries. .
Calling me a racist…among other things..
Well remember my lines are always open..Say what you want just don’t disrespect and it’s all good..
So before you assault Mega have your facts right..
I’m not an angry black man…

I have always used Facebook as a platform for fun and entertainment.
Sometimes you have trending stories that touch many..
The Gay linebacker story is one of those stories.
Now we look for persecution even on Facebook. .
If you write an, article because you read my post.
Outstanding. .I totally agree with Sams father.
And his feelings.
That’s not going to change. .
REMEMBER A STRAIGHT MAN STILL HAS RIGHTS AND FREEDOM TO SAY HE DOES NOT LIKE IT.
AS MUCH AS A STRAIGHT FATHER CAN STILL EXCEPT A GAY CHILD
WHY IS ONE THE GREATEST THING.AND IF YOU WANT YOUR SON TO BE STRAIGHT AND YOU SAY IT YOU ARE WRONG TODAY…

Here is why main stream media can take a flyer. .
When someone can post on Facebook and they turn it into a vendetta..
Like they say all publicity is good publicity. .
Now the article is about me..
My post was about the college gay linebacker.
Now I don’t block people

This time I was set up ..

My Comment following Sams father was that like the father most father’s I know would not be happy.
That set off a firestorm because the man said what he felt..
I commented on his comments
And all he’ll broke loose.
Now my verbage could have been better choices.
I know what the Bible says..
I don’t judge..but I have an opinion on being gay. .
So after all this and the emails I had to just post this story..
Now I love that you take the opportunity to write about my Facebook exchanges. .
I feel like Duck Dynasty. .
So rip me hate me…
I will always speak my mind..With no fear..
Like everyone else I have things I don’t approve. .
And just like this guy used his platform to go at me..
But I’m wrong…for using Facebook as entertainment. ..Again it worked..I get quoted a lot and interviewed a lot because I am out spoken.
The media loves that.

Now the article calls me a racist..really…Like Riley Cooper of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Amongst other things..
It was a vile exchange. .yes it was …you know Mega I look to get a rise..
I say things just for a rise.
This time the entertainment factor went off the meter.
But you can’t disrespect me in my Facebook house you won’t get blocked I smack you in the mouth..and we keep it moving..
If the exchange would have started off respectful it never would have been turn up..
But as a God loving man..
I forgive and keep going.
Obviously Mega has ripped at the fiber of the writer. Who ever he is..
Go ahead make your name off of the Mega Man..
Do what you gotta do..
I’m still here..I’ll never bottom out..This is not the time to brag..just believe say what you want write what you want spell my name correctly.
And when you visit my Facebook page have respect.
You get respect. ..

So now for people in the industry remember the Jim Rome Jim Everett exchange when he slapped jim.
It’s all entertainment for me…That’s what I do..

Straight men can’t make real comments in America without attack

Haters have made me famous people. .
From early morning hate mail. from cowards who don’t want to be known.
Is this what a straight man’s comments have come too.
I have seen the media try to destroy a person.
No weapon formed against me will prosper.
As a straight man I don’t agree nor judge homosexuality.
The Bible outlines God choice.

I FEEL LIKE MIKE SAMS FATHER.
SAMS IS THE GAY LINEBACKER WHO CAME OUT NATIONAL.
HIS FATHER SAID “I DONT LIKE IT NOR AGREE WITH IT”
HE STATED HE WAS NOT HAPPY THAT HIS SON WAS GAY.
AND I SAID I FEEL THE SAME WAY..
I WOULD NOT BE HAPPY IF MY SON WAS GAY.
THEN SOME GUY NAME LARRY ATTACKS THE POST AND ME..
I GO BACK IN..AND THE STORY IS OUT.
You can attack my position. .my career..
My life…It’s okay..
GOD says not to brag and I I won’t. .
But I have no worries. .
God’s promise.
But by saying and doing what you do on Mega
It only makes him bigger..

When a straight man gets attacked for saying what most straight men would say we are in trouble as a country.

I played in the USA with a gay player.
Who later came out publicly.
So I handled this situation 20 years ago..
Homophobic nope..
I don’t judge or care..
