The following are two emails that were sent from DSR contributors to Detroit News beat writer, Vincent Goodwill, after his abomination of a Sunday column regarding the Pistons refusing to use the amnesty clause on Charlie Villanueva.
The first is a short missive from DSR on TV co-host, Michael Bochenek, and GoodShill’s response.
Email From Michael Bochenek to Vincent GoodShill:
What a MASSIVE shill for the organization you are. How sad. Is Joe D giving you money for a book deal like he did with Rob Parker? Because that’s the only explanation as to how someone could.have such blind allegiance to such a clueless GM. Please quit your job. You’re really, really bad at it.
Response from Vincent GoodShill to Michael Bochenek:
Is that so? All I said was look at the FACTS: His money doesn’t drastically affect what you would do this offseason because clearly, you’re gearing up for next summer.
FACT: You already paid Rip to go away and Gores isn’t about to do it again.
FACT: Charlie V, while underperforming, isn’t a huge problem on the team or in the locker room. I never said he was a great player or that signing him was a good move. But you don’t compound one mistake with another one.
Maybe instead of taking personal shots at me, you should look at the facts and if you don’t, maybe I’ll put your email out here for the world to see, since clearly you like attacking my credibility.
Good day
Response From Michael Bochenek to Vincent GoodShill:
So… Did he give you money or not?
Response from Vincent GoodShill to Michael Bochenek:
No, but your mother did.
Response From Michael Bochenek to Vincent GoodShill:
Hahahaha. What a HORRIBLE line by a derelict hack. Find a fire and jump in. The world will be a better place.
Response from Vincent GoodShill to Michael Bochenek:
As long as mom can jump in with me, and I can take your girlfriend too… :). No really, just wanted to lighten the mood, didn’t like where the email exchange was going. You have your opinion, I have mine. Let’s leave it at that, cool?
Response From Michael Bochenek to Vincent GoodShill:
I mean. Ya didn’t want to lighten the mood. You thought it was a good line. And now you’re going to be exposed for the uncreative, bland hack writer you truly are. Make sure to keep your teeth off Joe D’s junk. Rob Parker told me he hates that.
Response from Vincent GoodShill to Michael Bochenek:
That’s it. I tried. Take your sorry ass back somewhere, get outta my email box. Too bad there’s plenty of folks who think I’m worth my salt so you’re opinion doesn’t mean shit…in the bland words of Jay-Z, “I ain’t Santa Claus, get off my lap” and one of my other favorite lines “c0ck-sucker beat it”
How’s that for uncreative, prick?
PS. you’re in junkmail now
Well, don’t worry, GoodShill, we will take care of posting this email exchange attacking your CREDIBILITY right here at the DirtSpurt. You’re WELCOME.
Dropping “Your mother” bombs?
“Cock-Sucker beat it?”
You sure taught Choco Shake a lesson here about your CREDIBILITY, GoodShill.
Email From Steven Krankota to Vincent GoodShill (Edited for grammar and spelling):
I have read your articles many of times and understand you have a job to do and that is all fine but your article today on Charlie V today is something I really think you are missing the boat on or were told to write.
Please see below:
[Editor’s Note: GoodShill’s quotes from his article are in italics. Krankota’s response follows.]
Fans want Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars to order the Code Red called the Amnesty Clause and owner Tom Gores to cut Villanueva a very expensive check for the remaining two seasons with some $17 million on his contract.
A very expensive check for 17 million? Please tell me why this would’t be a good business move? He averaged 7 points and 4 boards a game and made 7 MILLION dollars!! I understand he had a sore ankle (sigh, Terrell Owens played in a freakin Super bowl with a broken ankle.)
It didn’t stop Charlie from partying in Birmingham on the weekends and routinely dancing at clubs did it?
Anyone averaging 11 points and four rebounds would be the scapegoat for pretty much any fan base, no matter what the reason or circumstances are.
Here you are wrong again. Don’t you realize this guy is 6-11? 11 points? What a few 3-pointers and a lucky rebounds are supposed to be OK for anyone?
Nom thats OK for Austin Daye (and it doesn’t happen for him.) Again this Outlawis guy makes 7 million dollars a year to play PF in the NBA and sits at the 3-point line and NEVER mixes it up down low. EVER.
What a great teammate to sit on the 3-point line when Greg Monroe is the only one fighting down low for a rebound. Someone averaging 11 points and four boards wouldnt be a scapegoat on a team if he was trying.
Remember last year when he was in such great shape because of the extra time off due to a lockout? Ummmm …. he didnt start a game last year!
13 games in a shortened season. 7 million wow. That is 2 million per game. Thats’ a great tradeoff.
OH AND DON’T WRITE HOW HE GOT CUT FROM THE DOMINCAN NATIONAL TEAM? A guy on that team played for Michigan during 1997 to2001.
JOSH ASSELIN made the team!!!
There’s only a handful of teams who used the clause when the lockout ended and it’s arguable whether those teams used it wisely.
OK. Go look at the list. Gilbert Arenas, Chauncey Billups, Charlie Bell, Travis Outlaw, Baron Davis, Richard Jefferson and Brandon Roy
Again the only one that messed up was Billups. All those other guys have had legal trouble or simply can’t play to their contracts or benefit their teams anymore
Sounds a lot like CHARLIE.
He was the one the team couldn’t afford to come into training camp with, or start the season with either on the floor or on the bench.
I mean be honest. The Pistons tricked Rip and you know it.
Signed him to an extension. Traded his best friend on the team. All in the the same week! How did that trade turnout? Why can’t you write an article about the Pistons not making any deals ever with the core intact to benefit the future?
Rip watched this thing fall apart when Billups left and that is the reason we are in our situation today. Billups never leaves. Team never signs Gordon or Charlie. ….. setting us back YEARS.
Villanueva isn’t a problem in the locker room and despite his frustration of not playing any meaningful minutes, he didn’t speak out against coach Lawrence Frank, nor did he stop supporting teammates when it was obvious he wasn’t going to play. He was frustrated, that much was evident, but he handled things professionally and with the way things have gone in previous years, that aspect is nothing to ignore.
He handled things so professionaly that when he did play he averged 4 rebounds a game for a guy who is 6 foot 11.
It would be different, Mr. Goodwill, if he averaged 20 and 10 in 13 games (or showed the effort it takes to average 20 and 10).. not 7 and 4.
That shows me he isn’t supporting his team and he WAS speaking out against Frank.
As you know, Charlie is soft and to expect him to go live about his opinon won’t happen. He is telling you in the way most NBA players do. On the court with a lack of energy.
GET THIS STUFF RIGHT.
He wants to earn Frank’s trust and the fans’ respect, believe it or not.
This won’t happen and I don’t know what you are thinking. Do you honestly see the Palace getting packed again and fans cheering for Charlie in a Pistons uniform?
I mean, he’s a reason many people stopped going to games. If i did that bad at my job i would probably get fired.
Charlie gets paid 7 million a year to play a game he’s done his whole life the least you could do is hustle? Rebound? GO DOWN LOW.
His game doesn’t embody anything to do with this city. I mean I would rather pay a guy an expensive paycheck to leave than to really not get what you are paying for outta him.
[Editor’s Note: At the time of posting, GoodShill hasn’t responded to Krankota’s email. Probably waiting for some assistance from Dumars and his uncle, Waab Parker.]
