I have nothing against former Detroit Free Press reporter and current Fox-2 broadcast journalist M.L. Elrick. In fact, I have done nothing but commend his work, which includes helping put Kwame Kilpatrick in an El Rino, Oklahoma prison cell.

Unfortunately, Elrick doesn’t appreciate me or this website very much. His dislike of Poor Joff Mess started earlier this year when I called him out for co-hosting a sports show on Detroit Sports 105.1 with Darren McCarty.

I just thought it was odd that a man who has spent his life trying to shine a light on scumbags was partnering with a dude like McCarty ….

I thought it was fair to bring this up but Elrick disagreed and he “how about blocked” me on Twitter.

I haven’t had many interactions with Elrick since, but we did go at it again the other day on the Deadline Detroit Facebook page when he stated that people weren’t taking the DSR’s Drew Sharp plagiarism story very seriously because it appeared on this websight™ (Terry Foster.)

Well, first of all, people are taking our story seriously. Second of all, I only edited and published the piece … Justin Spiro wrote it.

One thing did lead to another and Elrick basically challenged me to show up at the Fox-2 studios after refusing to appear on tonight’s DSR Podcast.

So … I showed up and we debated several topics in the freezing cold outside the gates of the WJBK Southfield studio for approximately 30 minutes. The topics included whether or not I am a dick, a troll, a journalist and a wannabe.

Elrick’s main point seemed to be that I am an asshole, which is kind of odd since I ADMIT THAT RIGHT ON THE MASTHEAD OF THIS SITE.

Stay until the end when Elrick makes a bizarre statement that many DSR followers have insisted is homophobic.
