We have waited for months for this day and it finally came.  Foster’s Smokehouse in  Fraser is now open for business and the DetroitSportsRag.com was there on the scene to give you EXCLUSIVE details.

The DSR’s restaurant reviewers (Brian and Cade Cavanaugh) were in attendance just minutes after the establishment opened the doors to the public.

So, here is what went down at the soon to be out of business bar.

First, Cade requested a Root Beer. The eight-year old connoisseur was told they didn’t have Root Beer.  Then the Cavanaugh’s attempted to order the Toaramina’s Pizza which is being featured at the upstart bar.   The pair were told that the pizza wasn’t ready for the public because the management wasn’t happy with the product.

So, B-Cav ordered some burnt ends and Little Cav got the chicken fingers.  Before we get to the food review, let’s look at the decor.

This was from Foster’s blog this past weekend:

The question is are we ready? No. But I’ve had people tell me that you are never ready when you open. You just open when the wires are covered up and the grill is warm.

Well, the wires aren’t covered. Hopefully the grill is warm at least.

A Pudge jersey? Relevant.

So ….. the food arrived in a timely fashion.  That wasn’t much of a trick since there were more employees in attendance than patrons.  (What can you expect after seven false starts?)

Anyway, the burnt ends were not good at all according to B-Cav.  The pork was fatty and Cavanaugh called the grub low-end bar food with BBQ sauce.  On a positive note, Cade did like the chicken fingers.   Although he was still pissed that he couldn’t have Root Beer and pizza.

And speaking of the pizza, after being told TWICE that a Toaramina’s pie wasn’t available, on the way out the door a dude was carrying one out.  I guess they fixed the pizza issue in 25 minutes.

And we hope you enjoy this video because B-Cav and I now have to buy Cade a video game for him asking the waitress this question on camera.

Cade’s parting shot:

“So, what are we gonna do first?  Get my video game or get me a real dinner?”
