It’s that time of year, folks. We are one week away from the start of the DSR’s 2015 Worst Detroit Sports Media Tournament and the bracket is starting to take shape.
But before we can begin the process of crowning the next worst Detroit sports media personality, we have to finalize the last eight entrants. As of this writing, 56 participants have received at-large bids based on their awfulness in 2014.
The other eight spots are still up for grabs and will be determined this week in “Conference Tournament”-style matchups. There are 69 media members trying to avoid one of those last eight slots.
The 69 personalities in the “Play-In” tourneys are either actually good at what they do, not very impactful or nobody knows who the fuck they are.
Also, for the first time in this tournament’s history, we are giving one spot to a blogger. Originally, bloggers were going to be left out but Brian Cook of MGoBlog insisted on being included so I acquiesced.
Before you ask, I am not eligible for this tournament for the same reason you can’t bet on UNLV basketball games at the Wynn or at The Venetian.
