It was announced yesterday that Michigan native and Detroit Tigers fan J.K. Simmons would be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at Comerica Park on Opening Day a week from Monday.

Simmons, of course, is best known for his portrayal of a psychotic music professor in the film Whiplash — a performance which garnered the Farmers Insurance pitchman an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Well, I had a few thoughts about Simmons’ Opening Day gig on Twitter …..

@TonyPaul1984 Hopefully he will throw a chair at Joe Nathan and smack Brad Ausmus in the face if he does appear.

Or how about Joe Nathan throwing 88 mph 2 seam fastballs/meatballs and J.K. Simmons screaming at him “NOT MY TEMPO!!!!!!!”
