I have long held the belief on this website that Lions head coach Jim Schwartz is a dick. I have dedicated thousands and thousands of words to that thesis.
Well, we are starting to get confirmation from others about this prick. First, it came from an opponent. On Tuesday, Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Josh Sitton had this to say about “Custom Tailored Pants”:
Absolutely. They go after quarterbacks, their entire defense takes cheap shots all the time. That’s what they do, that’s who they are. They’re a bunch of dirtbags or scumbags. That’s just how they play. That’s how they’re coached.
That starts with their frickin’ coach. That starts with their head coach, Schwartz. He’s a dick, too. I wouldn’t want to play for him. It starts with him and their D-coordinator and their D-line coach. They’re all just scumbags and so are the D-line.
Since this was a member of the organization taking on the Lions this Thanksgiving, I guess you could easily dismiss the “Schwartz is a Dick” comment.
But Sitton’s opinion of Schwartz was supported this morning by former Lions defensive lineman Lawrence Jackson.
Jackson played for Schwartz for three seasons before the team parted ways with him this offseason. Jackson tried to catch on with the Minnesota Vikings, but was released during training camp.
On Twitter today, Jackson went out of his way to defend his former teammates and his defensive coordinator, Gunther Cunningham.
Schwartz? Not so much. Here are the Tweets in question from Jackson:
“@sanman20: @LoJackson94 what do you have against Jim?” I don’t have anything against him. I just don’t have a ton of respect for him.

@killernut4 offensive 3& outs were frustrating and turnovers were frustrating.

@killernut4 I like Gun a lot. I feel the same way towards Scott that you guys do. For the power of that offense they shouldn’t stall often.

@sanman20 he will also lie right to your face. I asked a question I knew the answer to and he tried to bullshit me…I saw right through it.

@sanman20 not everyone is held to the same standard and things are done because he wants to do them not because they’re good for the team.

@det_sports_nut I don’t think it’s just a get a new head coach thing…
For all the fans that think I’m sour and think I’m a bust. It’s really true that ignorance is bliss. Limited perspective is the ill of man.
— Lawrence Jackson (@LoJackson94) November 27, 2013
@TravaTrave exactly. I agree with that also. But players only do what they’re allowed to do…
— Lawrence Jackson (@LoJackson94) November 27, 2013
@ShaunMichael80 if you make the assumption that it’s sour grapes, I can’t help you with that. I speak from experience nowhere else.

@itsdamntrue11 I couldn't tell you. I told my agent not to speak to me about football or opportunities, for the past 6 weeks.
— Lawrence Jackson (@LoJackson94) November 27, 2013
@ShaunMichael80 I have no issues with the players. Players play coaches coach. If the same player is making mistakes that cost us then cont.
— Lawrence Jackson (@LoJackson94) November 27, 2013
@ShaunMichael80 why would I get mad at him, the coach and the gm gets paid to fix that not me. You have to fix the reason why u r losing.
— Lawrence Jackson (@LoJackson94) November 27, 2013
@ShaunMichael80 not glorifying small victories or victories of luck. You win by figuring out and handling why you're losing.
— Lawrence Jackson (@LoJackson94) November 27, 2013
@ShaunMichael80 there were players who weren't 100% prepared and it showed, but can't get mad at the kid that draws on the wall…the parent

@TravaTrave you guys are hanging onto hope. Points don't mean anything unless you're winning the big games. The saints points matter.
— Lawrence Jackson (@LoJackson94) November 27, 2013
@JeffMossDSR not really, there’s no need to go into any detail.
— Lawrence Jackson (@LoJackson94) November 27, 2013
I didn’t give up though ….
@JeffMossDSR 140 characters vs plenty of words.

I am still working on obtaining an interview with Jackson about these comments. I am guessing his feelings about Schwartz would be very illuminating to Lions fans.
Keep your fingers crossed and urge him to do the Podcast if you are so inclined.
